Surrey student awarded hospitality scholarship

Undergraduate student Tianyue Qiu has won recognition from HOSPA for excellence in her studies.

Tianyue, a third-year International Hospitality Management student currently on her Professional Training placement, has been awarded a Future Career Investment Development Scholarship by HOSPA, the not-for-profit educational organisation for hospitality industry professionals involved in Financial Management, Revenue Management and IT.

Offering a networking and educational opportunity for aspiring hospitality students who have excelled in their current studies, the scholarships provide the chance to meet influential industry professionals and attend workshops on industry best practice for the future.

Tianyue achieved a first-class grade in her second-year studies and was part of a group who won the Ian Eldridge Prize on the Hospitality Event Management module. She has also recently founded HOSCON – a hospitality consulting student society that provides informative lectures, competency-development workshops and networking opportunities for students interested in pursuing a career in hospitality consultancy/finance/revenue management.

Having spent three months as an intern at the Andaz Liverpool Street Hotel in London, Tianyue is now on placement at South Place Hotel, also in London, as an Assistant Accountant.
