About
We have opportunities for bright and enthusiastic individuals with our EngD programme.
You’ll be sponsored by Dstl at Porton Down in Wiltshire and be based at the University here in Guildford.
You’ll be looking at the physical principles involved in the transfer of energy between armour parts. This knowledge will be used to develop better ways of making robust armour systems. During your research you will attend events such as scientific and non-scientific short courses, meetings, and the annual EngD conference and use our excellent characterisation facilities.
Eligibility criteria
You’ll need to have a good undergraduate degree (first or upper-second class honours) or a masters degree at merit or above in a subject with some physical sciences content; a materials science background would be advantageous.
You need to be a UK/EU resident to be eligible to apply and non-UK applicants need to satisfy English qualification requirements – more information is available on request.
