About
Surrey Business School (SBS) is delighted to announce opportunities of PhD studentships for outstanding postgraduate researchers. These awards are designed to support innovative and impactful research that aligns with the School’s strategic priorities.
We invite applications for Management and Business PhD and Hospitality, Tourism, Transport and Events PhD, with a particular emphasis on the following research themes:
- Digital Transformation and AI (governance, adoption, organisational impact)
- Sustainable Business and Net Zero Transitions
- Visitor Economy and Human-Centred Experience
- Productivity, Innovation, and Diffusion (SMEs and place-based growth).

- Complete the SBS studentships 2026 application form (docx). See also SBS studentships 2026 guidance notes (docx). Please ensure that your prospective supervisor completes Section 7 of the form.
- Apply for October 2026 entry to one of the following postgraduate research programmes (October 2026 entry). In place of a research proposal, you should upload the completed studentship application form.
