Applications are invited for two full 3-year PhD studentships in 6G especially on satellite communications/antennas.

The role will include both theoretical and applied research in the well-equipped 6GIC/ICS at University of Surrey, UK. Space-air-ground integrated network is the future communication network and is the key solution for mobile network coverage and massive machine type communications. The integration of satellite communications and B5G/6G plays the key role in the development of future space information integrated network.

These projects have the potential to collaborate extensively with both internal and external partners including Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd, particularly, but not exclusively in the following areas: 

Eligibility criteria

Candidates should have a first-class honours degree or equivalent, or a good MSc degree, in computer science, electronic engineering or mathematics.

Candidates must be confident in FPGA programming and communication systems design or antenna engineering and EM modelling tools. Previous experience in mm-wave antennas or systems or NI USRP, or sparse signal processing will be a key advantage.

IELTS requirements: IELTS academic 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing, or equivalent.
