CBE Director News

Greetings from the nerve-centre of the Centre for Britain and Europe (CBE)!

Greetings from the nerve-centre of the Centre for Britain and Europe (CBE)! We’re working towards our launch on 24th October, at theBritish Academy (see events for the link to Eventbrite), during which the mandate of the CBE as well as its future plans will be unveiled. Part of the launch will include the unveiling of 4 Briefing Notes, exploring the impact that Brexit will have on key UK sectors, both nationally and in relation to Europe. During the summer, I’ve written a couple of blogs looking at various EU and UK issues, all of which are available on the SurreyBlog page: https://blogs.surrey.ac.uk/politics/

In addition, I’ve undertaken 3 commissioned blogs for The Conversation in the run-up to the European Parliamentary elections, the process and choices behind the incoming batch of EU institution leaders in November 2019, and the first of many Parliamentary upheavals arising from PM Johnson’s decision to prorogue Parliament during autumn 2019:

I’ll endeavour to contribute regular ‘CBE Director Updates’ so observers can see how the CBE itself is coming together, as well as the various activities of its staff, during these febrile but fascinating times.
