Celebrating the Surrey Business Awards

Last week Surrey Business School academics, staff and students joined 400 businesspeople at Epsom Downs Racecourse to celebrate the county’s top businesses and their achievements from the past year at the Surrey Business Awards 2019.

This year the awards received a record number of entries and hundreds of applicants were whittled down to just 56 finalists across 14 categories.

Surrey Business School were proud to sponsor the award for ‘Employer of the Year’ which saw local companies Kelly’s Storage, Kyan, ramsac and Something Big all shortlisted and judged by Dr Constantin Ciachir, Senior Teaching Fellow.

Following a sparkling drinks reception, Broadcaster and comedian Mark Dolan took to the stage to host the evening and gala dinner. A panel of industry leaders and experts joined him one-by-one on stage to announce the winners of each awards category.

Dr Ciachir joined the stage and was delighted to announce Kyan, a digital production studio, as our winner!

The evening was a great opportunity to network, reconnect and celebrate the county.

Adrian Shanks, Business Development Officer comments:” Judging the Employer of the Year award for the Surrey Business Awards 2019 proved a fascinating and inspiring process. It has also been a reminder of the depth of the commitment amongst local businesses to providing rewarding, challenging and nurturing working environments which both develop talent and puts this at the forefront of business strategy. The fact that there was so little to choose between the shortlisted businesses is testament to the excellence and innovation that exists across sectors and in businesses of all sizes in Surrey.

Our chosen winner for 2019, Kyan, demonstrated that they are a company that has built commercial success by putting its staff at the centre of its vision, its operations and its services and we are delighted to be able to recognise and reward this. We look forward to being part of the Awards once again in 2020.”
