Hospitality and Tourism introduces new Hotel Revenue Management programme
The Centre for Research and Enterprise (CRE) at the University of Surrey’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) will be holding a Hotel Revenue Management course in June.

The two-day event will run from 19-20 June and will take place at the Austin Pearce building at the University of Surrey’s Stag Hill campus in Guildford. The programme aims to increase understanding of revenue management strategies and promises hard work, network opportunities and fun interactive activities including a unique competitive simulation exercise for attendees. Topics of study will include revenue management, customer knowledge, market segmentation and distribution and transaction costs.
The content is aimed at those who have had little exposure to revenue management previously, but have an interest in understanding the role of a revenue manager in a hotel. It is meant as a foundation course for those who are looking for a move into revenue management, or to be able to contribute more to this function in an existing role. Attendees will leave with the ability to contribute more effectively to the discussions and decisions being made in their business, with a strong awareness of current developments and trends.
The specialised programme will be delivered by Sylvia Ganbert, Teaching Fellow at the University of Surrey and Janel Clark, Head of Consultancy and Education at Next Generation. Between them, Sylvia and Janel have combined experience of over 40 years in the area of revenue management, having worked worldwide in both independent and large group hotel businesses.

Professor Caroline Scarles, Head of SHTM, said: ““Our Revenue Management programme brings together professionals from across the hospitality industry. Through online simulations and strategic decision making exercises, delegates will work together through real-life challenges to gain a stronger awareness of revenue management.
“The combination of applied knowledge, high academic calibre and cutting edge industry insights ensure that programme attendees will feel more confident in making revenue management decision in the workplace.”
