My research project
Dissecting the role of RNA structure and non-canonical eIF3-dependent translation initiation in Dengue virus innate immune escapeStudying two prominent viruses in the orthoflavivirus family, Dengue and Zika, to characterise how the structure of their RNA genome interacts with host translational machinery. This also includes understanding how they are able to evade the innate immune system and continue to translate, even when host translation is shut down.
Joint studentship between the Broadbent lab (University of Surrey), Viral Gene Expression group (The Pirbright Institute) and Viral Stress Response group (The Pirbright Institute).
