Educating visitors and the local tourism industry to tackle human trafficking at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
Overview
This research project will map the scale and prevalence of human trafficking and exploitation in Qatar, with a specific emphasis on the abuse of migrant workers, with the view to critically analyse how we can better educate visitors to and across FIFA World Cup host cities about human trafficking and ways to tackle in real-time in and around live staging periods.
Furthermore, we seek to identify how we can work better together with the local tourism industry to raise awareness and tackle in real-time too. A key outcome is to map out how we can we institutionalize It's a Penalty's internationally recognized work to create a bespoke strategic and operational model for FIFA World Cup cities.
