The amount of support I got at GSA and Surrey was massive which I really liked, as I always knew who to go to when I had questions or needed extra support. 

I completed a three-month summer internship at the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and gained a multitude of technical and professional skills.

I found doing a split exchange/placement year best for me as I was able to gain experience of both working and studying abroad. I also had a lot of support from the University of Surrey to find a six month placement which I was initially worried about.

One of my favourite aspects of Surrey is the strong employability support available to students. The employability team are incredibly supportive and offer a wide range of resources, including CV reviews, mock interviews, and careers guidance. These services have been invaluable in helping me prepare for the professional world.

Being on placement has not only taught me about what it is like to work in the accounting and auditing world, but it has also given me the opportunity to learn so much about myself.

One of the best aspects of my placement was the overall experience of living and working in Brussels, a truly international city where I was constantly meeting people from different countries and cultures. 

The best thing about my placement was realising how much I could grow when given responsibility and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work.
