I found doing a split exchange/placement year best for me as I was able to gain experience of both working and studying abroad. I also had a lot of support from the University of Surrey to find a six month placement which I was initially worried about.

I enjoy the law course at Surrey because it prepares you for various professional careers. You’re constantly developing key, transferable skills applicable to legal and non-legal careers.

I completed a full year exchange with the University of Central Florida. This was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I joined the mediation team and was able to travel to different states competing. I have made friendships that are still strong today and provide me with potential networking connections in the future. 

Surrey Law School genuinely relish their interactions with students, so one never feels unwelcome. The learning never stops at Surrey; what you put into your studies you get out of your studies.

The best thing about my placement was realising how much I could grow when given responsibility and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work.

My placement at Dominic Levent Solicitors was an insightful and rewarding experience where I worked as a paralegal in the Family Department. The positive feedback I received from senior colleagues gave me confidence that I am well suited to this work. The experience shaped my academic choices and clarified the pathway I want to follow after university.

The most rewarding part of my placement was getting hands-on experience supporting clients through stressful legal processes. I would say a placement is an invaluable experience. 

I really appreciate the fast and engaging pace of the course. It is going very swiftly, and it is really interesting to keep up. While difficult at times, the lecturers make all the difference.
