Green Impact
Green Impact is a departmental accreditation scheme designed to embed sustainable practices across organisations. The University of Surrey will be launching this program in October 2023.
What is Green Impact?
Green Impact is a UNESCO multi-award winning sustainability engagement program set up by Students for Sustainability UK. The scheme aims to support sustainable practices across organisations by guiding individual departments on how they can take sustainable action in an accessible and meaningful way.
How it Works
Green Impact is a cyclical process that lasts from October to May. The programme can be customized to meet the specific needs, objectives, and culture of each university.
From October 2023, the University of Surrey’s Sustainability Team will be inviting both academic and professional services departments to get involved. Departments will create teams who will actively work through set sustainability criteria.
The aim of this scheme is to build a community of staff and students at Surrey who are actively working towards a more sustainable future – both at work and at home.
At the end of the year, departments will be awarded either a Bronze, Silver or Gold Green Impact award. Each department’s achievements will be celebrated in an end-of-year awards ceremony.
