The University has a duty to provide training to harassment and sexual misconduct training to all staff and students.
Training for students
As part of this new condition of registration, all staff and students are required to complete mandatory harassment and sexual misconduct training. This training will inform students about the new requirements provide details on understanding what constitutes harassment and sexual misconduct, how to recognise and report misconduct, and how the university supports affecting individuals.
This learning plays a key role in strengthening the healthy, inclusive culture that underpins our success. Each of us plays a vital role in actively promoting inclusion, challenging unacceptable behaviour and addressing concerns in the appropriate way.

Condition E6 is a new regulation from the Office for Students (OfS) in England, which came into force on 1 August 2025, aimed at tackling harassment and sexual misconduct in higher education institutions.
All staff and students are required to complete this training as part of the university’s compliance with the E6 Conditions of Registration set by the Office for Students. This condition ensures that universities take meaningful steps to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct and harassment. Completing this training helps create a safer, more respectful campus environment for everyone.
You can access the training via the Astute Training Portal.
Simply log in using your university log in, and select the 'Sexual Misconduct and Harassment Training' module that appears on your training dashboard.
The training takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. You can pause and return to the module at any time and your progress will be saved automatically.
The module covers:
- Understanding what constitutes sexual misconduct and harassment
- How to recognise inappropriate behaviours
- How to respond if you witness or experience misconduct
- Where and how to report incidents
- How the university supports affected individuals

Support is available through the Centre for Wellbeing to all students. If you would like to access mental health support, you can register with the Centre for Wellbeing.
Yes, the training is mandatory for all staff and students. It forms part of our institutional obligations under E6 and our wider commitment to safeguarding our community. Failure to complete the training may impact your access to certain services or future enrolment/staff development requirements.

Yes. Once completed, the system will log your completion and you will receive confirmation via email or through the portal.
Yes. This training is tailored specifically to our university’s procedures, support services, and reporting procedures. Even if you've completed similar training in the past, this module contains important, institution-specific information.
The Harassment Officer will be monitoring completion of this training; all students are expected to complete this training in the first few weeks of term.
You will be required to complete this training when you are in the first few weeks of the term when you arrive. After your first year, you will be expected to complete a reminder of the core principles of the training, information will come to you when you return to studies in your following years.

Every two weeks, you will get a reminder email from Astute to remind you to complete the training, if you do not complete this training by the end of the first term, you will be followed up by our Harassment Officer directly.
If you are receiving continuous emails from Astute, it may be that you have not completed your training, it is important to complete this training within the first 6 weeks of arriving at University. Please return to the Astute training and ensure you have completed the full module.

The AI is not doing anything with data that is entered by the user. The data is not used to train models. The learner’s input and necessary system context is only used to generate a response. The data is not shared with any other providers to train or improve their models - this includes data for evaluation or fine tuning, which is also not shared. Inputs and outputs are not shared with any third parties.
All data is encrypted in transit, and only accessible to authorised VinciWorks personnel if required for support or system improvements. VinciWorks, the company, and Astute, the software, are ISO 27001 certified, and any data that is kept is stored on AWS servers in the UK. DeltaNet is a subsidiary of VinciWorks, both of which are the company names mentioned on the ISO certificate. They develop and maintain the software Astute as an eLearning platform
