Refugee Week

Your Future Project: University Webinar Series

To commemorate Refugee Week, we are hosting a 3-part webinar series for displaced young people and their supporters.

The series will consist of a live presentation, followed by a Q&A. Each session will be available in the languages listed.

No sign up is required with these events open and free to students/young people interested in higher education and are either a refugee or asylum-seeking young person. We also welcome parents, carers, teachers of other professional staff supporting a young person.

European Connect

European Connect is a three week research project connecting you with likeminded students from across Europe. You will be matched based upon subject interests and will collaborate towards the completion of a group project and presentation as facilitated by one of our current students at the University of Surrey. You can expect to receive academic feedback on your presentation in addition to invitations to attend exclusive webinars covering topics such as Personal Statements, Student Finance and Student Life.

96% surveyed agree or strongly agree that they know the choices open to them in the future following completion of the programme.

91% surveyed agreed or strongly agreed that they were more confident in knowing what is expected of students at university following completion of the programme.

87% surveyed agreed or strongly agreed that they felt confident in their own education pathway following completion of the programme.

83% surveyed agreed or strongly agreed that they felt confident in making decisions about their future education following completion of the programme.

European Connect will run online across 3 weeks from Monday 28 June until Sunday 18 July.

AIM 4 University

AIM 4 University is a six-week programme designed to provide advice, information and mentoring (AIM) to support a student's UCAS application, personal statement and much more.

The programme is flexible and tailored to fit student needs; the mentoring service matches applicants with a current University of Surrey student, based on subject interest, who can share practical advice towards structuring their application in addition to recommendations towards work experience, reading and references. Students will also get ahead in their preparation by receiving invitations to attend exclusive weekly webinars on areas such as Personal Statements, Applying for Student Finance and University Life.

100% surveyed either agree or strongly agree that they are aware of the financial support available at university following completion of the programme. 

91% surveyed either agree or strongly agree that they are aware of the learning and pastoral support available at university following completion of the programme.

81% surveyed either agree or strongly agree that they feel confident in their personal writing skills following completion of the programme.
