Why did you choose to study your course at Surrey?

I initially chose Surrey for my undergraduate degree which I completed last year. I loved how Surrey had tonnes of great sports to choose from and also the fact it is a high ranking university. I loved my time at Surrey doing my undergraduate so much that I decided I didn’t want to go anywhere else to do my masters.

What are the best things about Surrey and your course?

I love the campus most of all. Especially in the summer studying around the lake is always great. I love how my course has actually given me the experience to do projects to prepare me for when I go into work. The best thing has been that as one of my modules I have got the chance to work with an actual company to run their social media.

What are the best things about life here as a postgraduate student?

The best thing about life as a postgraduate student is that the work feels more focused and connected to my future career goals. I like that postgraduate study gives me the chance to develop more specialist knowledge and build on what I have already learned. It also feels more independent, which can be challenging, but it has helped me become more confident in managing my own time and projects. It’s also great that I am surrounded by people who are also motivated and really care about the course.

What are your career plans?

After finishing my postgraduate degree, I would like to begin my career in digital marketing. I am especially interested in areas such as social media strategy, content creation, branding and campaign planning. My course has helped me realise that I enjoy working on practical projects where I can combine creativity with strategy and use digital platforms to communicate with audiences.

What advice do you have for students thinking of doing this course?

My advice for students thinking of taking this course would be to make the most of every practical opportunity it gives you. The course is really valuable if you are willing to get involved, take initiative and apply what you are learning to real projects. I would also say that time management is important, as postgraduate study can be intense and there are often multiple deadlines to balance but overall the course is also a lot of fun and lets you be creative in a lot of interesting ways.
