Veterinary Medicine and Science BVMSci (Hons)Why I chose Surrey
I applied to come to Surrey for several reasons, including the small cohort, new facilities and the University’s links with excellent veterinary partners including Fitzpatrick Referrals, Westpoint Farm Vets, the RSPCA and Liphook Equine Hospital.
My course
So far, I have really enjoyed the practical hands-on elements of BVMSci (Hons) Veterinary Medicine and Science course, particularly the visits to Westpoint Farm Vets, Berkshire College and the Surrey Wildlife Trust.
These experiences have given me opportunities to practise and develop husbandry skills and techniques that are important for my extramural studies (EMS), including restraint methods for cattle, horses, sheep and exotic pets, foot trimming, administering anthelmintic drugs and ear tagging to name but a few.
My life at Surrey
The sports facilities, specifically Surrey Sports Park, are also fantastic. I have joined the University Rugby Club, which gives me a great opportunity to forget everything vet-related for a few hours and concentrate on something different that really interests me. The Club and members have been really welcoming and there are some great socials too.
