"I would definitely recommend the foundation year to anyone who is considering it. The foundation of knowledge and preparation you are provided with will fill you with confidence for your degree and create a bridge of ease through your transition."

Choosing Surrey

When researching the right university for me, Surrey was always at the top - the scenic and calming environment was a huge draw for me. When reading into the Business Management BSc (Hons) course structure, each module was enticing and gave a broad overview of the business world, which is exactly what I was hoping for.

My foundation year

The most enjoyable aspect of my foundation year was the interactive activities available to us in each module. For example, on the CREATE module, we were able to work as a group to set up our own business or event. This allowed us to put pre-existing knowledge into practice, which is a key component of any learning.

Without a doubt, the foundation year prepared me hugely for my degree. I was able to hit the ground running in first-year as I was already familiar with the University’s way of life, from having the ability to successfully learn and absorb information effectively from lectures, and how to appropriately manage my time.

The course exceeded my expectations as I was able to grasp new knowledge, as well as successfully putting that knowledge into practice.

Would you recommend a foundation year to others?

I'd definitely recommend the foundation year to anyone who is considering it. The foundation of knowledge and preparation you are provided with will fill you with confidence for your degree and create a bridge of ease through your transition.

The future

In the future, I'm interested in working within either the aerospace or automotive industry.

My time at Surrey has been wonderful. I feel that I've gone into my degree and come out each year having been provided with a substantial amount of knowledge, which I'm preparing myself to use in the business world.
