Student Kelly Law LLB (Hons) My placement at Dominic Levent Solicitors was an insightful and rewarding experience where I worked as a paralegal in the Family Department. The positive feedback I received from senior colleagues gave me confidence that I am well suited to this work. The experience shaped my academic choices and clarified the pathway I want to follow after university.
Student Frey Creative Music Technology BMus (Hons) I chose Surrey because when I was in the process of looking at other universities, Surrey stood head and shoulders above the rest, as the course seemed much more interesting and it honestly felt like I was going to come out of doing the degree with a wider range of skills and knowledge. The facilities like the library, synth labs and Mac labs are all top tier for their equipment and spaces that can be used for studying.
Graduate Vickie Modern Languages (German and Spanish) BA (Hons) My classes were all quite small, so the student-tutor ratio was very good and tutors provided lots of contact time. As cliched as it sounds, my year abroad really was a formative year and one of the best of my life.
Student Arjun Law LLB (Hons) The most rewarding part of my placement was getting hands-on experience supporting clients through stressful legal processes. I would say a placement is an invaluable experience.
Student Hannah English Literature BA (Hons) I knew before my placement that I’d love to go into entertainment and during my placement I’ve loved learning so much about - and being a part of - the film industry. Although it is a tough industry to get into, I believe this placement experience has been undeniably beneficial in terms of getting early experience in the business.
Student Roochie C. Bridge Engineering MSc I chose the University of Surrey for its highly regarded MSc in Bridge Engineering — the only dedicated, well-ranked program of its kind worldwide.
Student Anushan Accounting and Finance BSc (Hons) My 12-month placement gave me practical experience that brought my studies to life and made me more confident about my future career path.
Student Josie Business Management with Entrepreneurship and Innovation BSc (Hons) The Entrepreneurship pathway is also great to support you in starting your own business and in final year, I am currently planning my business idea in a module called Applied Business Project which I would highly recommend, as a way to get professional feedback around your idea.
Student Lotte International Hospitality and Tourism Management BSc (Hons) Getting to be part of Surrey Hospitality and Tourism Management has been really interesting and meeting lecturers and people in the industry has been very beneficial. I am also part of the Food and Wine Society and the Scandinavian Society, which is lots of fun and great experience.
