Languages, communication, translation and interpreting
We're fascinated with the way words and languages work, how they travel across national boundaries and between cultures, and the relationship they have with our thoughts.
We are ranked:
- 7th for Iberian languages in the Complete University Guide 2024
- 4th in the UK for languages and linguistics in the Guardian University Guide 2024
- For overall student satisfaction* we're top 5 in the UK for French studies and top 10 in the UK for Iberian studies in the National Student Survey 2023.
94 per cent of our undergraduate and 91 per cent of our postgraduate taught School of Literature and Languages graduates are in employment or further study (Graduate Outcomes 2023, HESA).
*Measured by % positivity across all questions for all providers listed in the Guardian University Guide League Tables.
