Course

Air Transport Management MSc

Entry year

2018

"My course gives in-depth information about the aviation industry, covering topics such as air transport market analysis and forecasting, fleet planning, aviation ecommerce and aviation finance.

The modules are relevant and involve industry-related discussions, which allows me to better understand the trends and future of aviation. Although the student cohort is small, there is representation from over 15 countries, and the diverse contribution of experience and exposure by each student is what makes this course even better!

The academic staff are very experienced in the industry, tourism and sustainability. Visiting lecturers bring in industry experience and information about the most relevant systems used across the aviation field. Facilities used throughout the course are well maintained and we are given access to leading software and databases.

I am also a student ambassador and a member of the Sri Lankan society. This gives me the chance to meet new students, get involved and give back to the University while broadening my network and improving many skills.

I’m currently living in Manor Park University accommodation, which is well maintained and the help services are readily available and respond quickly. Since all the facilities you need are around the corner, you end up saving a lot of time which helps a lot, especially in an academic environment. So far the experience of living in accommodation has been great!

There are so many things that are great about life in Surrey such as London being only 30-40 minutes away, the friendly people of Guildford, and the diversity of the University community, which gives you the opportunity to experience all sorts of cultures.

"My best moment in Surrey so far was getting selected for the Global Graduate Award in Sustainability."

My best moment in Surrey so far was getting selected for the Global Graduate Award in Sustainability. This free programme runs through two semesters, and allows students to enhance their knowledge of sustainability across a wide range of topics. As an important topic of global discussion, the opportunity to hear from experts in sustainability from a variety of fields has given me much insight about the issues and steps taken towards handling the challenges of achieving a sustainable future.

There is never a dull moment in Surrey. I am enjoying the life here so far and looking forward to experiencing more."
