LEVEL OF STUDY
I got to try so many amazing things and explore my passions! In my final year, some of my assignments included working on a graphic novel, a video game demo, and an essay on my favourite anime.
The guest teachers were so interesting and the workshops were always fun but challenging.
I’ve just published my 10th novel (15th book) which feels like a bit of a milestone. I also teach writing workshops every month at The British Library, mostly around authors being entrepreneurial about their writing".
The whole atmosphere of the Surrey literature department seemed to be designed to allow each student to actualise their creativity in their own individual ways, and it made for an incredible environment and experience.
The staff on my course are brilliant. The literature academics and creative writers know their areas so well and are excited to share and build their knowledge with their students.
There’s an entire world of study at Surrey; from medieval to postmodern literature for English, and analyses of the first ever films created, to modern contemporary films".
The modules themselves were so interesting with a unique range of texts, which I may never have discovered on my own".

The staff at both my partner University and at the University of Surrey were all incredibly helpful in supporting me throughout the semester and adjusting my learning where possible.
