Update on impacts on the AC (Lewis Carroll) Building

Estates and facilities teams have carried out an impact assessment through the AC Building over the past 24 hours. Parts of levels 1 to 5 have been affected and the building will remain closed for the rest of today, Monday 5 March.

All class tests due to take place in the AC Building have been moved to alternate locations and all students have been informed of the changes. Lectures due to take place in AC this morning have been cancelled and students have been informed by SMS messages. The timetabling team are in the process of re-scheduling the cancelled lectures.

The timetabling team is working to move those lectures due to take place in the AC building this afternoon to alternative locations – students and staff will be informed directly once arrangements have been made. If alternative locations are not available the lectures will be cancelled and re-scheduled.

Estates and facilities staff have begun clear up and repair of the damaged areas, and safety assessments are being undertaken today. It is hoped to be able to commence a phased reopening of the building from tomorrow. Tuesday. Staff who need to gain access to the building should be able to from tomorrow, pending the outcome of the safety assessments.

Staff who use the AC building will be kept informed of access arrangements through line managers as soon as these have been agreed.

Students who are due to have lectures or class tests in the AC Building will be kept updated via SMS from later today.

The wider campus is open as normal.
