Digital project development
This project is suitable for companies with an active digital marketing presence (e.g. website and social media channels) who seek support for their digital marketing activity.
Duration
February - May 2026
Student expertise (level of study)
Masters
Putting digital marketing into action
Our masters students study a range of digital marketing topics in the classroom including customer journey mapping, social media management, website UI / UX design and SEO management. This is supported by outside speakers from industry, including former students now working in key digital marketing roles in companies, and by workshops with the FIGMA design tool.
Students then apply their learning from the classroom into a project to support digital marketing activity of a designated company. Students gain invaluable insights into how theory works in practice for digital marketing and how it relates to business decision-making. They also develop key skills related to teamwork, project management and stakeholder management which prepares them for the workplace.
How it works
Student teams are set up at the beginning of the project with every attempt made to balance them based on the company preferences, and on student skills and experience. In the initial stakeholder meetings, the team learn about the business context for the project and set guidelines for communications and weekly meetings.
Initially, student teams collaborate with the company stakeholder to evaluate the current digital marketing activity, including customer journey mapping, social media channel management, website UI / UX design and SEO. They present their research findings in the stakeholder presentation which is held after five weeks.
After the presentation, the student teams then agree with the company stakeholder on a list of tasks to execute for their business challenge for the remaining eight weeks of the project. The tasks may relate to any designated area of digital marketing where the company needs support.
At the end of the project, the student team arranges a final meeting with the company stakeholder to transfer the learning from their activity and summarise their findings in a final report submitted as an assignment. Students are expected to generate impact for the company through the project, while company stakeholders participate in the assessment.
