This scholarship will provide financial support for a student who is estranged from their family.

About the The Battersea Scholarship 2021 entry

This scholarship provides £3,000 per year for a maximum of four years (can include a Professional Training Year) and will support one student who is estranged from their family.

The bursary is generously funded by our Alumni from the Battersea College of Technology, the forerunner institution to the University of Surrey.

Terms and conditions

Open to UK domiciled students who are estranged from their family. Applicants will need to provide confirmation from Student Finance England (SFE) that they are estranged.

If you think that you might be eligible for this award but you do not have confirmation of estrangement from SFE, please contact our Student Money Support Team on moneysupport@surrey.ac.uk, who will be able to provide guidance and may be able to support you in gaining confirmation from SFE.

Students will be asked to provide a personal statement outlining their motivations to study and why they are applying for this scholarship.

To be eligible for this scholarship you must be:

  • A first year undergraduate student
  • UK home domiciled
  • Estranged from your family.

Candidates must complete all sections of the application form (doc) and submit to bursariesandscholarships@surrey.ac.uk by the closing date of Friday 12 November 2021.
