National Student Survey shows student satisfaction remains high at Surrey

The University of Surrey has been ranked 11th in the UK for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2024, out of 121 universities and higher education institutions.* The University secured an overall positivity score of 84.7%.

The survey, completed by 77.5% of Surrey's final year undergraduate students, records positivity above the sector average across the board:

  • Teaching: a score of 87.8%
  • Learning Resources: a score of 91.4%
  • Learning Opportunities: a score of 85.5%
  • Academic Support: a score of 89.3%
  • Assessment and Feedback: a score 80%
  • Student Voice: a score of 79.1%

Last year's survey included several new questions, including - "How well communicated was information about your university's mental wellbeing support services?" – and this year Surrey ranked first in the UK for this question, with a score of 87.9%.

Excellence in teaching and student experience are both strategic priorities and hallmarks of the University of Surrey. We are proud to have achieved such high scores in the National Student Survey 2024, thanks to our entire Surrey community for their commitments and hard work.

The NSS is completed by our final year undergraduate students - and it is fitting that we celebrate this achievement and their valuable feedback just as we prepare to celebrate their graduations with them over the coming week.

A number of changes and improvements designed to enhance the student experience in line with Surrey's Seamless Student Journey programme are already underway. These include:

  • A brand-new Hive at Manor Park to enable our students to access support services from both campuses. Our MySurrey Hive Assistants will provide first-line support and triage to specialist teams where required.
  • The introduction of new self-help tools: from August, our students will use new digital tools to self-help when they need support, and at a time to suit them.
  • A new case management platform: Surrey Support will be launched to streamline our communications between students and our support services.
