The University is committed to supporting high-quality PhD students and has over 150 funding opportunities available for October 2020 start. These new opportunities will provide funding to recruit and support talented doctoral researchers and to reinforce our ambitious research strategy.

The Doctoral College studentship award is open to UK and EU candidates and will provide a generous package of a full fee waiver, a stipend at the UKRI rate (currently £15,009), and a research training support grant of £1,000 per annum.

For international candidates, the Vice-Chancellor’s studentship award provides a similar set of benefits, while the international fee reduction studentship provides a fee reduction down to the UK/EU rate.

With the well-established Doctoral College, now is an exciting time to join the supportive and ambitious research community at Surrey. The Doctoral College connects supervisors, doctoral researchers, and research support staff across all three of the University’s faculties and provides invaluable training and guidance.
