Dr Baris Celik
About
Biography
Baris joined the Department of Politics in the academic year of 2021-22. Baris mainly researches on global governance, security and defence cooperation in Europe, and international environmental politics. His research on these topics is published in outlets including the Journal of European Integration, European Security and Global Affairs. His teaching areas include international security and defence, international climate politics, European Union politics, theories of international relations, research methods in political science, and negotiation.
Baris obtained his PhD from the University of Kent, and MA from the University of Sheffield. Previously, he was involved in foreign policy planning and served in Turkey and China as a diplomat.
Baris is also the Events Officer at the Graduate Forum Committee of the University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES), a member of the British International Studies Association (BISA), and a European Climate Pact Ambassador.
