Steven Broome

Biography
Steven has worked in the science and innovation sector for the past 16 years, first in innovation consultancy and then subsequently across a number of roles within a UK national research and development centre. Throughout this time, Steven has developed and expanded domestic and international networks within the commercial, pubic and academic sectors. He has spent sustained periods in open-innovation with blue chip industry and led complex initiatives for key clients including central UK Government, Innovate UK and the European Commission. As an all-rounder, Steven has managed small, specialised teams as well as working independently. He has had in-depth engagement with the majority of European countries as well as the Japanese scientific sector. He has a First Degree in Physiology/Pharmacology and a Masters in Management from Durham University.
At the University of Surrey, Steven develops transformational projects in collaboration with industry, government and academia. Currently, his focus is on building strategic partnerships in the space/satellite, healthcare and digital sectors, including the University’s on-going strategic partnership with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL).
