We maintain strong links with business and industry in a number of different ways.
Schemes to help your business
Our long-established Professional Training placement scheme enables companies to employ high calibre undergraduate students for up to a year, giving them access to a valuable pool of young talent. We also work closely with businesses on applied and collaborative research projects, joint PhD projects, and through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership programme.
Continuing Professional Development courses
We offer intensive week-long Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses, enabling organisations and their employees to develop knowledge and expertise in specific areas. These can be taken as one-off courses or as part of a master's degree.
Working with businesses
Hear from businesses about how collaborating with our University has given them the chance to develop new technologies and processes and find solutions to their problems.
Industrial Advisory Boards
The Department of Computer Science and Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering both have an Industrial Advisory Board which includes members from local, national, and international companies. The Industrial Advisory Boards provide us with support on our taught courses, including advice on curriculum development from a professional perspective and the opportunity for guest lectures.
For more information about the Industrial Advisory Boards and other information about business opportunities, see our department pages on business opportunities and outreach in computer science and business opportunities in electrical and electronic engineering.
