"The Surrey MBA has for sure assisted me to progress in my career and has filled the requirement that is expected of every professional at my level in my field to have. I would not be in my current role without the positive impact it brings to my CV."

What attracted you to choose the University of Surrey and to study the MBA here?
Initially I looked at couple of different options, but kept coming back to the University of Surrey and to be honest it was always my number one choice. There were some key decisive factors for me choosing Surrey - one being the attractive description of the program, especially for the Executive part-time course. The weekend schedule for busy professionals like me was very important. Also the entrepreneurial approach built into the program as well as the location where the course was held and naturally the total cost of the whole course made a difference. The fact that Surrey was also on its way to the top 10 universities in the country came as bonus and I feel that the MBA is now even more valuable from that perspective.

What were the best things about your course?
Definitely the people as we had a great group with different backgrounds, which I feel was the most important thing, contributing significantly to the classroom discussions in any topic really.
I feel very privileged being part of small group of individuals that became a team learning continuously from each other. Also the whole experience fulfilled my set expectations and more, so I was very happy with the outcome overall.

How did you change as a person during your time as an MBA student?
This is a good question and I would definitely say that completing Surrey MBA is something that I am very proud of. It built up my confidence for sure and changed me to be more critical in many things. What I mean is that being around group of people, who challenge you to think differently, also puts you under pressure to justify your views with confidence. When this critical audience, your cohort, is firing questions from left and right after your presentation, it definitely builds up your confidence when successfully managing to justify your point of view.

What impact did the Surrey MBA have upon your career?
The Surrey MBA has for sure assisted me to progress in my career and has filled the requirement that is expected of every professional at my level in my field to have. I would not be in my current role without the positive impact it brings to my CV.

What are your thoughts on the importance of networking? Is a strong personal network important in business?
I firmly believe that networking is vital and one of the key things in business. The right network can help you in so many ways such as improving your business, your career and bringing in valuable advice when needed just to mention few things. Honestly speaking I have found networking crucial in my business here in Russia. Relationships are based on personal contacts and only way to progress here both in life and business is to know the right people. I most certainly recommend networking regardless of your location and field.

What one piece of advice would you give to people considering the Surrey MBA?
Do it! And this was not a paid advertisement for Surrey or Nike for that matter. There’s no reason to think twice or hesitate if the timing is right and it suits your career and personal life. I promise that after completion the only thought you will have is sense of achievement and you will be glad that you chose to do it.

What is your strongest or happiest memory of your time at Surrey?
There are quite a few actually, but just to pick one. I have fond memories of the team beer(s) after hard days of studying and completing assignments. I miss those evenings.
