Graduate Alyx Jones Creative Music Technology BMus (Hons) Surrey was my absolute dream choice of University. I only had one back up option but I had my heart set on coming here; the campus is beautiful but the Creative Music Technology course was what really drew me in. It had the right balance of teaching hours versus time to hone our practice, as well as lots of module options that really gave me the flexibility to explore everything I was interested in.
Student Finn West Creative Music Technology BMus (Hons) My favourite thing about this course is its ethos of finding beauty in every style of music possible. The music lecturers are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and their love and passion for what they do is so infectious.
Graduate Owen Stavenuiter Music BMus (Hons) A couple of highlights have been having my work featured on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM, BBC News and in The Guardian. I was also fortunate enough to work on an operatic project with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, which won the 2021 RPS award for Best Opera and the Sky Arts award for Best Opera".
Graduate Andrea Loizidou Music BMus (Hons) We would have lunchtime recitals, rehearsals with other musicians and I was constantly surrounded by so much talent, creativity and passion for music".
Student Alexander Peters de Alvear The Tonmeister degree offers the perfect combination of music and engineering, technical and creative knowledge. The course is very well structured, academic, and has a hands-on approach to learn the theory and practical skills needed to work in any field in the Music industry.
Student Dudu Pektunc Music BMus (Hons) There is a wide range of genres and module choice within the course – I can learn classical violin performance while also studying popular music analysis and musicology. There are huge opportunities to collaborate with other students from different year groups and courses, especially in the Music Project module.
Student Anne Marie Cundy Music PhD Anne Marie's research explores a possible link between music performance anxiety and how performers relate to the music they are playing and engagement with multi-modal learning approaches in violin pedagogy. Multi-modal in this instance refers to aural learning, imitation, improvisation, analysis and historical knowledge.
Student Niall Casserly Surrey offers an extremely diverse and versatile course which has allowed me to mould the degree to my personal and professional interests".
Student Amelia Hooper I’ve been impressed with how Surrey has dealt with the pandemic. They’ve done their best to keep up student morale by setting up events where they can and opening up social spaces such as Rubix lounge, The Marquee and the lake.
