Sustainability in our education

Sustainability has been embedded into all our programmes as a core graduate attribute. All students on taught degrees will learn about sustainability throughout their programmes based on the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. This will be specified in learning outcomes, and progress will be assessed. 

Supporting our academics

All courses go through a rigorous validation process, checking that sustainability and other core graduate attributes are embedded. Workshops are provided to inspire and guide course leaders on how these attributes can be embedded.

• All staff members complete an induction that includes sustainability. Staff and students are also encouraged to take the 'Introduction to Sustainability' course to develop their knowledge on climate change and sustainability. 
• We run continuing professional development modules for masters students, research students and individuals from businesses. 
• The Global Graduate Award in Sustainability is an extracurricular module open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students free of charge. The module offers the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of a wide range of issues affecting the sustainability of our planet.

Students with irregular migration status, asylum seekers and refugees can access specialist and holistic advice through our dedicated student communities support.
