Development Psychology Research Group

The Developmental Psychology Research Group investigates psychological development from the prenatal stage through to adulthood.

Our aim is to advance both theory and practice by exploring diverse topics, including cognitive and motor development, language acquisition, neurodiversity (with research on specific neurodevelopmental conditions), mental health, wellbeing and resilience.

We employ experimental, cross-sectional and longitudinal designs to address key questions about development, using methodologies ranging from qualitative approaches and interventions to virtual reality and genetics.

Beyond our research, we engage in outreach and dissemination activities, working with schools, communities, policymakers and the public to influence educational practice and support early childhood development.
