Under the weather

Have you ever been watching the weather forecast on the news and wondered “What on earth do those weather charts mean?” and/or “How do they calculate that?”. In this seminar, we introduce the simpler mathematics of the atmosphere and briefly explore the techniques used by the MET Office that combine mathematical models and observational data when making weather predictions – a process known as Data Assimilation.
