The role of an actuary at the Bank of England
Whilst studying a mathematical degree it is not uncommon to come across the idea of pursuing a career as an actuary. As an undergraduate I found myself asking the following questions: What does an actuary do day-to-day? How does the role of an actuary differ in the public sector against the private sector? What is the balance of studying for a professional qualification alongside work like? In this talk, aside from giving you a brief overview of what the Bank of England does and a flavour of where I apply my statistical skills, I hope to answer some of these questions, and give you the chance to ask any questions you may have if you are interested in seeking a career as an actuary.
