Overview
Engaging in feedback processes through seeking and using constructive criticism is essential to development in diverse fields from education and work to sport and interpersonal relationships. However, there’s an interesting paradox in human behaviour in feedback contexts: We report a strong desire for constructive criticism, yet often display resistance and defensiveness in response to receiving such information. In this inaugural lecture, Professor Winstone will discuss insights from her research programme that illuminate barriers to engagement in feedback processes, and how they can be overcome.
