Cyber Security of Next Generation Communications Systems

We are delighted to be hosting a joint event between the University of Surrey’s Centre for Cyber Security and the SASIG group, the UK’s premier cyber security network. This is the latest event in Surrey’s ‘Future of Cyber’ series.

Nearly every aspect of our modern lives depends on communications technologies. The field of cyber security would largely cease to exist without the Internet and the services that run over it. However, we are extending these communications in a variety of interesting and challenging ways. For example, new services such as Starlink and Oneweb are providing satellite-based global access to the Internet. New mobile technologies such as 6G are already being framed and explored to deliver new services and features to users. The Internet of Things potentially brings network access to billions of objects, from consumer white goods to cars to medical devices. All of these developments bring new challenges and vulnerabilities, some already evident, others waiting to be discovered.

In this session we explore these new communications methods, their unique security issues and what we should be thinking about to keep our digital services safe.

Our speakers will include:

• Nithin Thomas, Founder and CEO at Klarytee

• Gaynor Rich, Vice-President at BT

Look out for further announcements on our additional guest speakers.
