The David Ebsworth Overseas Professional Training Year Scholarship for Biosciences

This scholarship awards £5,000 to support biosciences students in undertaking their Professional Training year outside the UK.

This scholarship is available for two UK students to support them in undertaking their professional training year outside the UK during 2026/27. Two awards of £5,000 are available this year.

The terms of the scholarship listed above are at the discretion of the donor and may be subject to change before awarding.

Applicants do not need to have secured a placement to be able to apply for the award. Awards will be confirmed in July 2026 to students who have secured an approved placement by that date.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship you must be:

A UK second year undergraduate student
Studying one of the following courses:
- Biochemistry BSc (Hons) / MSci (Hons)
- Biological Sciences BSc (Hons)
- Biomedical Science BSc (Hons) / MSci (Hons)
- Microbiology BSc (Hons)
Undertaking an international professional training year during the 2026/27 academic year.
