Entry requirements

See our country-specific equivalencies.

Please refer to the entry requirements for the country where your High School qualifications originate from, or the relevant UK qualifications on the course page. For information on entry requirements based on an International Foundation Year, please contact the admissions team with details about where you are taking your International Foundation Year, and the content you are studying.

For direct entry these range from a 2:1 to a 2:2 UK honours degree. Our Pre-Masters programme offers another route into Surrey for specific programmes.

Postgraduate research

We usually expect you to have a bachelors degree equivalent to a 2:1 UK honours degree, a good masters degree and a research proposal before applying.

If you have any queries about entry requirements for any of our undergraduate or postgraduate courses please email international@surrey.ac.uk.

English language requirements and courses

All our students require a good standard of English language to be eligible to study with us. Please refer to the entry requirements on your preferred programme's web page.

Postgraduate applicants whose final year of study was completed at a UK HEI do not have to provide further evidence of English Language.

If you don’t meet our requirements, we offer intensive Pre-Sessional English language courses, designed to take you to the level of English ability and skill required for your studies.
