Biography
Dr Elias Martinez Hernandez is a Research Fellow at CES working on the development of methodologies and tools for sustainable design of Local Production systems Using REnewable resources (LocalPURE), a project funded by the Leverhulme Trust. He has got a PhD in Process Integration from The University of Manchester, UK in 2013. His PhD work was on the development and application of process integration, economic and environmental analysis tools for the design of sustainable biorefineries.

General research interest is on the line of process integration and sustainable chemical engineering. Specific topics are:
- Analysis and design of biorefineries
- Life cycle assessment (LCA) and sustainability of energy systems and chemical processes
- Renewable energy systems analysis and design
- Integration of ecological and technological processes in local production systems design
- Development of Computer Aided Process Engineering (CAPE) tools.
