What’s your remote learning experience been like so far?

I’ve been watching pre-recorded lectures online and following the lecture notes because my home internet is slow.

My tutors have been very accommodating and I’ve had various virtual calls with them to help progress my studies and dissertation.

What about the practical elements of your course?

I haven’t been able to complete the practical aspects of my dissertation, but my tutor has been very helpful and understanding, allowing me to reorganise the structure of my report to compensate for the lack of physical testing.

This has obviously been stressful, but I’ve managed to complete a first draft early, and I’ve begun reviewing and refining my dissertation.

Has there been good continuity since the move to online teaching?

Yes, the materials are easy to access and the recorded lectures have proved helpful with my studying and being able to go back over previous lecture notes.

What's helped you feel part of the Surrey community despite not being on campus?

While it’s been difficult losing the opportunity to study with friends and use the resources on campus, the University has been brilliant in giving us access to materials and support through virtual meetings.

I’ve been very impressed with their response to this crisis and it's made me proud to be a Surrey student.
