"I like the flexibility that my course offers so I’m able to work part-time and also take part in societies."

"My course is very diverse so I get to work with different people and the versatility of the content makes it easy for me to apply my knowledge to the work I do outside of studies. The academic staff on my course also communicate really well with the students, they are very approachable and willing to help out whenever I’m facing an issue with either my career prospects, coursework or exams. I also really like that Surrey Business School has labs, common rooms and communal lounging areas that can be used freely by students, so these are usually my go-to spots!

"Surrey is the best place to explore and find yourself."

When I arrived at Surrey, everyone was so welcoming and friendly, I didn’t feel alone or lost because everyone was so willing to give me a helping hand. Nothing bad can ever come from taking a step forward from your comfort zone. And Surrey is the best place to explore and find yourself! The area is also safe and quiet – the perfect place to come back to after a long day! And I personally love the greenery.

I stayed in Manor Park in my first year; it was really nice to meet other students right away and we got to try things out together. Student Life Mentors visit you every week, so rest assured if you feel lost, because there’s always someone to look after you. I also really enjoy taking part in society events, so it was comforting to know my accommodation was only 15 minutes away when I needed to head home for a quick break!

The Students’ Union holds free feasts and movie nights by the lake for anyone to join. It’s one of those events where you can just come together as a community and have a good time! I’m part of the Nutrition Society and the Marketing Society – it’s such a heart-warming experience to work with people who have the same mindset as you do! I loved being on the committee, it gave me a sense of belonging and I really enjoy planning events as a team.

I think my best moment at Surrey so far has to have been during exam season last year when a group of friends and I crammed in the library overnight to finish a report that was due the next morning. Sounds a bit odd but it was just one of those nights where you feel overwhelmed by deadlines but pull through because of the support from friends around you."
