As I grew up I became interested in maths and physics and paving a path to become an engineer. However, when looking at universities I realised I was specifically more into the technical side of film.

It’s a friendly and collaborative environment. We work mostly in a wide and comfortable office and, occasionally, we have the opportunity to run experiments with real cars or in the test rig lab.

The University has a lot of societies if you’re interested in them and the atmosphere on the campus and in Guildford itself is really nice.

One of the highlights of my PhD has been the eight-week placement I'm currently spending at Crossfield Fusion as part of the GRADnet programme.

My supervisor is integral to the brilliant PhD experience I’m having. We have weekly meetings to touch base and make sure I’m on track and not veering too far astray.

The Centre for Vision Speech and Signal Processing, or CVSSP as it’s known, is a great place to undertake a PhD in machine learning or machine perception. It has a diverse range of research groups all with their own areas of expertise.
