Last year the University used 411,085,000 litres of water – that’s enough to fill the Olympic sized swimming pool at Surrey Sports Park 165 times!

Top tips

Take a shorter shower

Taking a shower instead of a bath uses around a fifth of the water, and knocking two minutes off the length of your shower can save more than 45 litres of water.

Report leaks and dripping taps

A steady dripping tap can waste up to 75 litres of water every day!

Only boil what you need

Use the right size pan when cooking to save water and time and fill the kettle with what you need
