If you've applied for a place at the University of Surrey you may be invited to an applicant day. An applicant day gives you the chance to visit the campus and learn more about the University and the course you've applied for.
Applicant day dates
Surrey's undergraduate applicant days run from November to April. Most take place on a Wednesday, but we also run Saturday dates on 17 February and 17 March.
Applicant days start at 10:30am and end around 4:30pm.
How to book an applicant day
Applicant days are invitation only.
If you've applied for an undergraduate course that runs applicant days/interview days and you're selected for invitation, we'll contact you via Surrey Self-service.
Once you receive an invite, you will need to book your place via Surrey Self-service.

Travelling to an applicant day
Public transport is the most efficient way to get to campus, but parking permits are available if you need to drive.
We are pleased to announce that we are able to offer financial support to allow eligible applicants to attend one of the upcoming applicant day dates. In order for us to assess your eligibility, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org who will provide you with the necessary forms to complete.
If you are eligible, the University will be able to cover the cost of your journey to campus. Unfortunately we will only be able to provide travel expenses for applicants themselves, and not for accompanying family members.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions regarding the support available. We very much look forward to hearing from you, and to welcoming you to campus in the near future.
You can download a printable permit to display in your car from Surrey Self-service once you have been invited to attend an Applicant Day.
If you have any questions about an applicant day please contact us via Surrey Self-service.
You are welcome to bring guests to our applicant days, but we recommend limiting guests to one per applicant.
We may have to limit how many people can attend the welcome talk and take part in the afternoon sessions, due to room capacity. While we will attempt to accommodate everyone, please do keep this in mind during busy days.
The applicant day includes some sessions for applicants only. During this time, parents and guardians are welcome to attend our optional ‘supporting your student through university’ talk, further explore the campus or take a walk into Guildford.
If you bring any children with you they must be accompanied by another adult who carries full responsibility for the child during the day.
Open days are a fantastic opportunity to visit the University, but focus on providing a general overview.
An applicant day gives you the opportunity to find out more information about the academic content of the course you have applied for and includes tailored activities designed to help you make an informed decision about where to study.
If you've already had a campus tour on an open day, you may wish to skip the campus tour and start your applicant day at 11am, rather than 10am. Last registration is at 11:40am.
We always run our applicant days where possible. We recommend you wear appropriate clothing and bring a rain coat or an umbrella as you will be spending some time outside moving around the campus.
Should we need to cancel an applicant day, we will let you know via email with as much warning as possible.
Please wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Most tutors will not dress formally, and it is not necessary for you to do so. We recommend wearing comfortable footwear as the campus tour involves a lot of walking. Make sure you bring a rain coat or umbrella too, as most of the tour is outside.
Yes. The University of Surrey is just ten minutes’ walk from the centre of Guildford and near the train station. The parents’ programme will also include an opportunity to visit Guildford.
