Abstract
The usefulness of mathematical modelling and analysis to direct cancer treatment strategy has been gaining recognition over the last few years as evidenced by new initiatives in several major US clinical cancer centres in mathematical oncology (most notably in the Mayo Clinic and the Moffit Cancer Centre). These initiatives draw on the depth of expertise that has been built in the mathematics community on working on cancer models for tumour growth over a significant period of time. I will here introduce some mathematical methodologies used to guide and inform cancer treatment and drug development.
