CFD simulations of hydrogen dispersion, fire and explosions
This project aims to develop and validate HyFOAM-S, a dedicated solver and modelling approaches based on HyFOAM.

HyFOAM-S will be validated with new large-scale tests to be conducted by the sponsor and transferred to them as in-house predictive tool (non-transferable) to predict for consequence analysis to inform the definition of safety/separation distance, reliable safety protection technology as well as effective hydrogen energy safety management and control. HyFOAM-S will include the following capability:
- Small-scale hydrogen leaks
- Large-scale releases
- Spontaneous ignition
- Jet fires
- Hydrogen explosions (excluding DDT).
