Research

Tackling the grand challenges of clean energy, resilience and sustainability, our interdisciplinary research brings together scientists and engineers in research and strategic centres and clusters.

Our mission

The research interests in our School sit at the intersections between engineering resilience, green living and healthy living, addressing key future engineering challenges including clean and affordable energy, autonomous vehicles, assisted ageing, environmental monitoring, and sustainable design and manufacture.

Strategic centres

Addressing key interdisciplinary technological challenges, strategic centres bring together a critical mass of scientists and engineers to transcend the traditional disciplinary boundaries and deliver transformational engineering solutions and understanding.

Research clusters

Responding to challenges that extend beyond science and engineering, our research clusters provide pathways to exchange engineering innovation with the wider research ecosystem.

  • Artificial intelligence
  • Energy and environment
  • Environmental fluid mechanics
  • Space engineering
  • Spatial structures.
