Making new friends and beating rival universities at cricket remain fond memories! On the course, the Formula Student experience was a highlight. Overall, it was a very fulfilling time.

Can you tell us about your work placement?

For my Professional Training placement, I wanted to stick with a highly mathematical role. I worked at Dematic Ltd and I had the chance to employ engineering AutoCAD design and simulation within the actual industry.

I also spent several hours with my mentor during my placement. That guided my final decision about what area of engineering to enter as a career. I haven’t looked back since!

Can you give us a summary of your career to date?

Initially, I worked in the UK in a technical engineering role, before moving up to project engineering. I moved to Qatar in 2011 and I stayed there working on several projects until 2017. I moved to Dubai in 2017 to continue a previous role in business development at Fives Intralogistics SpA.

What is your current job title?

I oversee business development and sales in the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and South-east Asia at the industrial engineering company, Fives Intralogistics SpA.

What advice would you give to students hoping to work in your profession?

Work hard and follow your passion. Most importantly, be willing to learn new advancements in technology every year!

Finally, what’s your advice to students to help them make the most of their time at Surrey?

Try new clubs and don't limit yourself to activities you’re already good at! Test yourself. This will help you become successful in life. Stretching your skills and abilities will only make you grow.
