LEVEL OF STUDY
I’m delighted to have secured a role with Leonardo as a Graduate Project Manager. My placement experience was invaluable in my job search – particularly in preparing for interview and developing my CV and cover letter.
My placement gave me an insight into the police work conducted behind a crime or death. Analysing post-mortem samples and seeing the effects of certain drugs on people really fascinated me and gave me the opportunity to explore the toxicology world in depth.
Aneeb Chaudhry, who graduated from Surrey’s MEng Chemical Engineering in 2017, is a Process Engineer at Brenntag UK Ireland Ltd and was recently named winner of the Chemical Business Association (CBA)’s Young Person Award in recognition of his exceptional contributions within the company.
The lecturers go above and beyond for students. There is an open office policy, which enables students to contact teaching staff at any time. This availability and readiness to support students is impressive.
I called Surrey’s Clearing hotline and was delighted that they accepted me - I couldn’t have been any happier. I felt extremely reassured that I’d gotten a place at a very good university."
The main thing I learnt on placement was never to be afraid to ask. Everyone you ever work with had to start off somewhere.
One of the highlights of my degree has been working in a team to operate the Fluor pilot plant. This gave me excellent hands-on operational experience and helped to prepare me for my Professional Training placement at EDF Energy at Sizewell B nuclear power station.
Surrey has great connections with placement providers all over the world, and I’m really excited to be spending next year in Italy for my Professional Training placement.
